Gumroad – share and sell with just a link

Gumroad – all-in-one solution to sell your work

Dear designers, illustrators, animators, musicians, writers, software developers and all other authors of digital and physical content, I want to tell you about a platform that you should join. That is if you haven’t already done so. This is a bit different. I say that because not only will it bring a plus to your income, but most of all it will ease the access and exposure to the consumers of your products. It promises to offer what all artists need from day 1: more time to create and less hassle with payments, audience reach or customer  management.

Gumroad allows creators to sell directly to costumers.  It helps creators take control of their creative careers.

It was founded in 2011 by Designer Sahil Lavingia and offers payment processing, file hosting and delivery, marketing and communications tools – all of fthat in one single place. What is very important is that among all other such e-commerce platform it has the lowest fee – it starts at $10 a month and 3.5% + 30¢ per charge.

The founder, the first designer at Pinterest was 19 when he put together Gumroad, in one weekend. Not surprisingly, the platform was a solution to a common problem for creatives. More specifically, needing to go through a long, annoying process to get the product to the costumer. His goal was to cut short this road and make selling as easy as sharing.

Since its inception Gumroad has been receiving more than $8 million in funding. Musicians like Eminem and Whiz Khalifa sold through the platform. Magnolia Pictures has a curated selection of films there, while , Wired highlighted illustrator Kyle Webster’s profile for making more than $100k selling custom Photoshop brushes.

But is everything as good as it sounds? Please tell us if you have any exprience with the platform! How did it work for you ? Do you recommend it?
