Children book illustration competition – Ilustrarte 2018

Children book illustration – the Ilustrarte 2018 competition

Ilustrarte is a biannual illustration competition that highlights the most creative pieces of  illustration for children’s books. Designers and illustrators from all over the world can participate with 3 original pieces with the same theme,  created after January 1st 2015. Any medium is eligible and the material should have 20 Mb maximum, in Tiff or Jpg format.

The jury gathers professionals from the industry, such as illustrators and editors. Since it is a competition organized by the Portuguese authorities,  Portuguese designers will judge alongside international representatives.

Luckily, there is no entry fee and the big prize is 5000 Euros! Therefore, there’s nothing to lose from submitting your best work. The winning artist will be announced in February 2018, at the opening of the exhibition. This will last until April at the Museum of Electricity in Lisbon.

Basically, Ilustrarte is a great opportunity for emerging artists to make their work known. Furthermore, it provides a consistent financial support. Creatives do need a paycheck, contrary to popular belief.

Last but not least, the deadline is August 13st and below you can see the winning pieces from previous years.
