It’s been almost two months since Dan Mumford released his amazing clothing line called “Heretic”. Since the release, the tees have been very successful and did not disappoint even a single art lover. Because for every designer that respects his work, the story behind every drawing is meaningful and not just some design elements put together as a whole, Mumford had the wonderful idea of combining all his 8 t-shirts into a single story. He put up together the main ideas, and his friend, Travis Ducsay, succeeded in creating a creepy coherent story, ready to be spread into the world. Each t-shirt is representative for a section of the story. I must admit I had fun matching the story with the t-shirts. The 8 chapters of the story are: I. Prologue, II. Omen, III. Rites, IV. Ceremony, V. Priest, VI. Dominion, VII. Destroyer, VIII. Epilogue.
And the story goes like this:
“Through the thickness of the trees, a palatial chateau appears. Beyond mortal comprehension, she enters. The key on her chest begins to illuminate as she steps through the door. A haunting wind to signal evil takes over the room. The passage from this life into the next can be problematic at best. The opalescent glow of the death altar forewarns of complication. The throne, littered with skulls of the priesthood collective, illuminates the Cimmerian heretic with powers from beyond. Fully enveloped in pure concentrated evil, the priest moves toward his victim with strategic vigor, avoiding direct contact with the key’s shining inanimate prowess. The ritual is nearly complete. Séances from a dead language fill the room as a subtle incision is made. Her body begins to take on a spiritual transformation. The key bursts from her chest like a phoenix to signal the true demonic despot. He emerges from the keep as flames circle the priest. The demons dogs tear his false flesh from his false bones. She is the true claviger of the dark throne. Cradling the priest’s skull between her hands as a trophy, the surrounding flames are welcomed. She is home.”
