Sharona Bessems is a 23 year old freelance illustrator based in Maastricht, Netherlands. She graduated from Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design, majoring in illustration.
As a kid, she used to draw on every possible surface, which the majority of future designer/illustrators do in their childhood, don’t they?
As you can tell from her work, she is passionate about drawing for children, creating designs for dedicated books, educational material etc.
As tools, she uses Photoshop CS 5.1 to draw everything, along with a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. For lettering Illustrator CS5 is used as a base, while most brushes are from these brush packages by Kyle Webster.
And of course there are hand drawn sketches involved, as “handlettering” should be. Then she takes a picture of it and starts to colour it digitally.
